Need help with Picyin? Email hello@dylankroft.com and we'll get back to you, usually within a couple of days. It helps to mention your iPhone model, the version of Picyin (in Settings › About) and, if it's about a photo, what the text in it says.
Common questions
- A line wasn't picked up, or a word is wrong. Picyin only keeps text it can read with confidence, so blurry or partly hidden text is left out rather than guessed. A closer, steadier photo in good light usually helps. To fix a phrase, tap it on its photo and then the pencil, or swipe it in the list and tap Edit. You can also type a phrase yourself from a photo's ••• menu.
- The English is word by word. Until Chinese is downloaded for Apple's on-device translation, English comes from the dictionary one word at a time. Tap Download Chinese on the home screen; phrases are translated as soon as it's done.
- The voice sounds robotic. Download an Enhanced or Premium Chinese voice in iOS Settings › Accessibility › Spoken Content › Voices. Picyin uses the best one installed.
- Restoring Premium on a new iPhone. Open Settings in Picyin, tap Unlock Premium, then Restore Purchases, signed in with the Apple Account you bought it with.
- The free photo limit. The free version keeps up to 20 photos at a time; delete a photo to make room, or unlock Premium for no limit.
- Turning off vibrations. Settings › Accessibility › Haptics in Picyin.
- Deleting your data. Settings › Delete All Data removes every photo, phrase and review from your iPhone. Picyin keeps no copy anywhere else.
